96 arrested in San Diego State drug bust

University police began an undercover investigation a year ago after a 19-year-old female student died of cocaine and ethanol intoxication.
During their under cover investigation the undercover officers dressed like students
and collected information on drug dealer's at parties.
on Tuesday officials announced
"On Tuesday, authorities announced that 96 young men -- including 75 students -- had been arrested on a variety of drug charges as a result of Operation Sudden Fall, which infiltrated seven fraternities on Fraternity Row and Fraternity Circle. Officials said the name of the operation referred to the prospect of sudden death from drug usage" (Toni Perry Los Angeles Times)
This is an interesting news story!
I know that many people are going to be outraged that the police violated students privacy.
But I feel violating student privacy is sometimes necessary to protect students.
Drugs should not be associated with any type of college life. Especially when hard working parents pay the school fees students should be protected from fraternity houses that encourage or allow illegal activity. Even tough many college movies idolize drinking and doing some drugs schools should do what ever it takes to prevent students from drug addiction. It is true that students are adults and they make their own decisions regardless of school supervision but even adults need help when making dumb decisions.

It's such a trip. I really think they should have gone after the source, but it's still a good thing they caught a bunch of hypocrites. The drug dealers who want to be cops? geez!

I am suprised to hear a "Drug bust" in college. I have nerver of a story like this. It's very rare to hear that college students get arrested for possesing illegal drugs. I heard of gun shooting tragedies on college campuses before, like the shooting tragedy that happen in the state of Virginia. Like the article says "This is an intersting story". I would say the same thing, "Intersting story!"
